benefits of going greek
by: whygreekAside from social side and parties, what are some actual benefits of going greek? Is it really worth all that money to join? How is different from like joining another club on campus?

You will make 20x more work connections by going Greek than you would in a regular university experience. Jobs these days only come through connections or internships. It could be a hell of a lot easier to find a job in a field you want after university if you go Greek.

Making ur ubc experience a lot better. Your sorority/frat friends can end up being ypur best friends and you also have your frat house/ chapter to go to and always find someone. Getyour own space to study, a lot less crowded and its easier to get a position. Huge network of people and tons of events yearround. Unique parts of being greek like getting a big/lil (they actually are special) and other stuff. It isnt that expensive anyways, def worth it.

I wouldn't join if you don't have money to waste. If you're living off of student loans etc you'll be expecting too much and getting very little from the Greek experience. What you get from going Greek isn't immediate...nobody is going to hand you a job the second you get a bid, but it WILL come up in the future and you will have something to talk about

Maybe for frats but not really sororities? I only ever hear about Kappas getting other Kappas receptionist jobs at hair salons as an example of this lol, my sister is working for a big company now and said Greek life never comes up for her post-grad and that it’s weird if you talk to much about what you did at university
