Realistically, what are the chances of getting a good bid from a sorority if you're rushing as a third year who just transferred to UBC Vancouver?
I know the main thing is to get along with the members and year and age don't matter, but really, standards are standards and I'd really appreciate some honest replies.

Thanks!

It's not just upper tiers that will reject you, middle tiers reject girls too for age and other things. I don't know about bottom tier though

noo do it! if you're fun, pretty and well dressed no one will care. if you just transferred i'm sure you'll have some good stories and things to talk about and also you'll be looking for some friends.
so worth it!

Not sure why you would wanna rush anyway when you just transferred and are probably graduating the year after. It is time consuming and takes some time to get used to...maybe it'd be better just to focus on your studies and join a club?

I rushed as a third year. Graduating in 5 years though. I know some girls who rushed first or second year but are older. I think the only way to know is to actually go through recruitment. I dont think age is the biggest thing, it's personality and if you're coming to a new school you def want friends. Give it a try and if it's for you you'll def get in.

Make sure you let chapters know you're graduating in 5 years. Some organizations may be wary when your PNM profile reads Junior, when you really have 3 whole years to contribute.

In my experience, the only time I remember age being an issue was ONCE and they were a fourth year. I can name some AMAZING girls that joined third year and it wasn't even brought up. Dont' worry about it.

I rushed in my third year as a transfer and got a bid to a "top tier" chapter. A couple of the other girls in my pledge class were also transfers or older.
Honestly though, it doesn't matter which sorority you get a bid from as long as where you end up is where you feel like you belong. If you don't get along with your sisters or have completely different values it doesn't matter if you're in the #1 chapter, you're going to hate it. Don't go into recruitment thinking that you have to get into DG or Kappa or whatever, just take the time to actually get to know the girls you talk to at each party and don't let reputation affect your decision. You'll be way happier in the long run.

It actually depends on the needs of the chapter that year. If a chapter has a huge graduating class and you would be joining those numbers, you're less likely than a younger girl to get a bid regardless of tier rushing strength. But don't worry about it so much. You will stand out as a star to a chapter that wants you no matter what, don't stress out over what they think about you and your year standing. You'll always end up where you're meant to go :)

Im in a top and my pledge class had a few third years, including myself. It added diversity to the class and it was easy to go out with the girls who were our age but had been in the system for awhile. A great girl is a great girl, so unless you're like 25 then rush.

Agreed. We've never had any issues with letting in third years, a fourth year once I think but that's all I've heard.
