by: kazIf some of you may have noticed, there is this fad going on in the world of UBC Greek community that is sooo embarrassing. Im talking about of course, the TFM obsession. I see guys wearing blazers and kaki pants with bow ties and croakies. Ive even seen guys running around with America flags tied around their neck and having the flag as a cape. This is quite ridiculous because of the one huge fact that we are a school in Canada. Ive seen girls starting to wear the fratty clothing too. I saw a girl with a southern proper hat on the other day, when clearly you live in Vancouver. People are starting to act like they love country music and love drinking whiskey in this effort to try and be like an American school, and it is failing horribly. TFM could tell you guys that it would be cool to jump off a bridge, and you would probably do it. I'll admit, ive even fallen into the deep end of that website, I thought it was cool for a while. But when people start taking it too seriously, it starts to become pathetic. So everyone...please be yourselves, Canada loves you the way you are.

Well this is a tough one -- on one hand, some men on campus actually grew up wearing khakis and boat shoes, etc. It's not just a product of southern fraternities. It's also just one of more privileged families, traditional families, etc.
On the other hand, we all know exactly who you are talking about and, yes, it's utterly ridiculous and extremely obvious that they're just try-hards.
But country music rocks.
