sorority acceptance
by: idcI plan to start UBC in September and I just found out about greek life. I will be 21 going into my first year, I am transferring from college, and would like to join a sorority. Is it likely that I would get a bid if I go through the recruitment process being 21?

It probably won’t be harder for you to get in (sororities care more about what year you’re in than your age) but honestly it might just be a bit weird for you. Most of the girls in your pledge class will be 18, fresh out of high school and there’ll be a biiiig maturity difference - but you’ll be seen as being on the same level as them because you’re a “first year”. It might make it harder to make friends in your pledge class but definitely doesn’t mean you shouldn’t join!!

Honestly i highly recommend going through recruitment !! Everyone is acting like 21 is so old haha don’t worry, i don’t think it will affect anything. I never got asked how old i was when i went through recruitment. I was 19 but turned 20 after and yes some 18 year olds seem kinda young but it’ll give you a chance to meet some great girls, plus most of the older girls will be your age so you’ll probably click really well with them !! Seriously go through recruitment you will not regret it.

I think it'll be marginally harder but I don't necessarily think it's "unlikely." After all, you'll be going into 1st year and probably still 4 years of uni life so I don't think it'll hinder your chances THAT much?
