wanting to drop

I joined a supposedly "top tier" chapter and I've already had a crazy amount of meetings, girls have gotten really mad when I haven't been able to make it to everything (even though I had legit reasons like having a volunteer shift) and been so rude, and a couple of the girls in my pledge class are low key crazy. I feel really unhappy with my choice and don't know what to do.

They were wayyy different in recruitment than they are in reality. I thought they were nice, I wasn't making a decision based on tiers or anything but I'm already finding it cliquey and everyone is so full of themselves.

dont go through with initiation. It's not worth it. Wait until fall recruitment 2018 and try again. Once you get initiated you cant join another chapter.

every new member has two meetings per week, regardless of which sorority you join. So hate to break it to you, but you're going to get the same thing no matter where you end up

This is false. Some chapters have more than two meetings, and definitely not every chapter has actives being mean to new members when they can't make it to everything for legitimate reasons.

Don't know what chapter OP is in but this sounds remarkably similar to girls' experiences I know in ADPi

Literally HUGE mistake. Trust. The. System. These stupid "rankings" are written by anonymous people on the internet. When my sorority chooses girls, we vote based on SO much more than looks. So it makes NO sense to have rankings especially when they're 90% based on which sorority is the hottest.

Maybe you should work on your communication skills and talk to members in your chapter instead of complaining on an anonymous website :)
It's also hypocritical to call someone rude when you're calling other people (whom you've just met and talked to probably twice) crazy.

I say that because they've had multiple ambulances called to the frats because they drank too much, and because they've talked openly about doing cocaine. I know enough to know those aren't the people I want to be around, that's not being "rude"

It's an expensive decision and if you're not feeling it now and go through with it and you're not feeling it later you'll regret not dropping. You can always go through rush again next year if you drop before initiation
