the first exchange is usually with a sorority and frat who are really close. they all mix as the year goes on but the first exchange is with a frat and sorority who are close

Actually, the first exchange pairing has a lot to do with closeness. Usually the sorority and fraternity will communicate ahead of time to organize their exchange on the first date. The rest of the pairings after the first exchange don't have anything to do with closeness but its tradition to have the first exchange with whichever organization yours associates with most, or at least, one of the most.

this is marginally incorrect and the Exchange pairings have nothing to do with closeness
