how competitive is fraternity rush?
by: .#3by: depends
It depends on the fraternity! It's different from sorority recruitment because you can get bids from multiple fraternities (so when you show up on bid day, you could get a bid from 3 frats that you rushed, whereas sorority bid day you only ever get a bid from 1 b/c of the way the process is structured)
However, it's also harsher in the sense that if you didn't get a bid from any, they won't call you ahead of time to let you know like with sororities. You show up and might not see your name on any of the tables.
The best way to have good chances is to go to rush events for a lot of different frats and see where you vibe best. You can usually tell if you're clicking with the guys in the house or not and if you fit in. I think the times people don't get bids is when they're set on one frat and refuse to see that they don't fit in there, and refuse to look at any others
For example I know someone that absolutely refused to join any frat other than Sigma Chi. He didn't get a bid from them two years in a row, and is now not in a fraternity at all, when he could have just joined a different frat that he fit better with because he did get a bid from them. His loss
