sororities where your friends are?
by: Jw
I am going into second year and a lot of my friends in sororities have encouraged me to go through recruitment - however, they are in different chapters even though they are all close with each other. I'm worried about what will happen if I end up joining one sorority over another one that my friends are in? How will I know if a chapter is really right for me, or if I'm just joining because my friends are in it already?
Or, worse, what if I get cut from a sorority a lot of my friends are in during recruitment? I feel like they're so much prettier/more put together than me and I honestly wouldn't be surprised if I got cut, I'm really worried about this happening

Don't feel like you have to join a sorority just because your friends are in one!
That being said, if YOU feel the desire to meet more new people, be part of a sisterhood and actually want to try something new then go through recruitment because YOU want to.
If you've already established these close friendships it doesn't really matter where you end up, these girls will still be your friends and you'll have the chance to make even more. Some of my closest friends are in other sororities or not in one at all.
I know I am biased but I really do recommend going through recruitment with an open mind and just seeing which girls you feel most comfortable with and which chapter you can see yourself growing from the most!!

Just to add to this - if you're a legacy and your sister is in a certain sorority, do NOT feel the need to join that sorority. I know usually legacy's don't choose other chapters, but I would honestly prefer to join a chapter where I could see myself grow, rather than a chapter simply because my sister or friend is in it. PLUS, as an added bonus, you'll probably have twice as many friends since you'll get to hang out with another sorority :)
