kappa?

by: first year

I want to do recruitment in the fall and was just curious about the different sororities. WHY is everyone saying that Kappa Kappa Gamma has a terrible sisterhood if they're the "top tier" chapter?

Also what makes them top tier? Is it really hard to get into it?

Only a Kappa would know exactly how they decide who makes it in.

But basically how the tiers of chapters are determined is based on recruitment. If a lot of girls want to go back to a certain chapter and put them first on their lists, then that makes that chapter top. KKG is really good at recruiting, so they've been top for a while.

That being said, recruitment is one week of the whole school year. That doesn't make the chapter great the rest of the year, and Kappa is known for having a bad sisterhood - lots of Kappas have been heard gossiping about their sisters in public, stealing each other's boyfriends etc. and they have a high drop rate.

They are popular with certain fraternities too, which adds to the whole "top tier" thing.

Idk if that totally answers your question but there you go

They recruit a lot of rich private school girls. During recruitment, they only let the pretty girls recruit and they hide the rest away. Same with their social media. That's what makes them "good" at recruitment, and they also pick girls purely based on looks/money.

They're not top tier in anyone's books beyond the recruitment stats and the frat boys they're hooking up with.

I'm not sure if I'm allowed to comment on this post because I joined Kappa last year but here's what I have found.
I was skeptical during rush because I saw that someone on this site said kappa had a bad sisterhood but I went with my gut and joined. I remember being suprised At first by how big a deal it was that we never speak badly about another sorority. It was one of the first things they told us about and they said they would not tolerate it, and same goes with your sisters. I know you will take this with a grain of salt because I'm biased but I have found kappa to be super close. I can't totally speak for much older pledge classes but mine gets alone really well and I honestly adore my sisters. Obviously there are hiccups because you have 100 girls in the sorority but since day one I felt so spoiled by the older girls and my pledge class is really tight. I love my sisters and don't know how are sisterhood could improve but then again I've only ever been in Kappa so I can't say what others are like. All the sororities seem amazing and I have friends in all of them! I hope this helps, just remember to be sceptical on Greek rank, there are a lot of stigmas and stereotypes being thrown around, no sorority fits into one stereotype. :) Hope you have fun rushing!

In a different sorority but I think that was really sweet and I'm so glad you've had such a good experience with Kappa! Most girls I meet in Kappa are really nice and I think they're getting unfairly bashed on here

I totally agree! I've met a few kappas and they seem to get along well together! How are you supposed to judge an entire sisterhood you're not even apart of? Glad you found your home!!
