A sweetheart is a girl who has essentially done a lot for a particular fraternity. In the runup to formal each year, there are girls that are considered for nomination and one girl wins. It usually goes to a girl that is dating a guy in that particular frat, though not always. And it usually goes to a girl who shows up for their parties and philanthropy events, hangs out at the house, is friends with a lot of the guys, and idk bakes for them and stuff. Not every frat names a a sweetheart every year(DKE doesn't have them) but most do.

I'm Greek at another university and we also have sweethearts. Is it just the fraternities at UBC that select a sweetheart or do the sororities pick one too? Out here we do both.
