why do the sororities not have houses?

it used to be illegal for that many girls to live in a house in vancouver bc it was considered a brothel lol. to buy land on ubc and build houses would be ridiculously expensive now but i heard one day if every house can get one donated then we can have them (but not until then? i heard it was considered and unfair advantage during rush) however tbh it sucks a lot but ultimately doesnt make a difference and you should rush if you want to. i let it hold me back first year but changed my mind second year and being part of the greek system is worth it house or not.

There is a building called Panhellenic House right next to the fraternities that every sorority has a chapter room in on the ground floor. It's where meetings, recruitment, and lots of sisterhood events happen, and there are also all-female apartments upstairs where mainly sorority girls live. You aren't necessarily only living with girls in your sorority - lots of times girls from different chapters live together through random housing assignment, but there are definitely also girls that arrange to live with girls in their chapter too.

As far as sororities not having their own houses - the brothel rule, as well as not every sorority's international wanted to provide funding for one here at the time that some chapters wanted them built.
