my avg is lower than the requirement

Someone asked this two years ago and i'm just wondering if i should go through with formal recruitment even if my average is below the requirement. I'm going into second year in the fall and had a really rough first year. Will i have no chance at all or is there hope? thanks!!

go through. some sororities might cut you for invitationals but I guarantee you will still find a home that can help you raise that GPA back up if they see it in you. coming from someone that is in a sorority and had below 65% average going into recruitment

How does anyone get into UBC with less than a 65%??? :S

some people go through recruitment in second year where their average may not be as high as went they got into ubc

I know my sorority is very strict, we can not take anyone who doesn't meet the standards (which are set by our international). Not sure if other sororities are more lenient

There's definitely still hope! Honestly you will probably get cut from quite a lot of them but you will still find a place

Another option is to try really hard in first semester, kill it and bring up your GPA, then go through spring recruitment.

It will save you the heartache from getting cut from a lot of chapters in September formal recruitment because you don't meet the requirement, and will help you get academically back on track! :)

Honestly having a high GPA is one of the BEST advantages you could have during recruitment

does anyone know by any chance which sororities are extremely strict on their GPA? like for sure not give you a bid due to low GPA?

Adpi, theta and aoii will without a doubt cut you. The sororities with gpas in the middle like kkg, gphi and agd may or may not. And the lower gpa sororities like aphi and dg probably won't care
