sigep house
by: BeqaaIf the planned shutdown happens, who will get the former SigEp house? Will the school make it a sorority?

Cowards pulled down the petition. Here's the text.
"This petition is in support of the continued presence of Sigma Phi Epsilon, Indiana Alpha chapter on Purdue University's campus and to oppose the active movement to no longer recognize our chapter as a student organization. This planned action by the university would eradicate one of the oldest, most history rich SigEp chapters in the nation and the only fraternity on Purdue's campus that has never closed its doors. Through your help we can prevent the displacement of some of the brightest and most well rounded men Purdue has to offer and allow for the future development of Balanced Men."

The national fraternity staff and FSCL partner with the IFC to ensure student life-safety and to teach accountability. Any violation of probation, including the specific restrictions meant to prevent behavioral lapses that endanger the success of the chapter, will be met with more serve consequences. When a chapter cannot or will not self-govern, staff and administrators must take action, including membership review and charter action, to secure the future of a healthy, safe, and values-based Greek Life.

The behavioral problems, risk management incidents, and lack of discipline, confirmed the concern that the chapter’s culture was misaligned with the Fraternity’s expectations and values. The lack of accountability, unwillingness of chapter leaders to meet Fraternity and University policies, and hesitancy of undergraduate members to accept continued support from alumni-volunteers were continuing themes within the chapter. The unwillingness of the undergraduate executive board to improve chapter policies and operations on its own accord and the failure of chapter leaders to enforce its own membership agreement speak to mindset and intentions of some members of the chapter.

"Jeffery Stefancic, associate dean of students, said the fraternity could have easily been deactivated as a student organization due to the severity of the allegations. But Stefancic and James Hintz, associate dean of students, were influenced by the national Sigma Phi Epsilon organization.
“Part of that decision to let them operate as a recognized organization was the willingness of the national Sig Ep office to change that culture,” Stefancic said.
