fraternities spring rush
by: First and Last ChanceTransferring to Purdue in the spring. I will be classified as a sophomore since I have 50 credits. What fraternities are doing spring rush and are there any that would give a bid to a sophomore in the spring?

I am in the same position as OP and I didn't get a bid because I was a sophomore second semester transfer

The only houses not doing spring rush as far as i know are FIJI, Sigma Chi, and SAE. That means good houses left are Kappa Sig, Phi Psi, Pi Kapps, Lambda, (AGR if you're in Ag), Delts, Dchi, Theta Chi, and ZBT.
Lambda, Kappa sig, Phi Psi, and Pi Kapps will be harder to get a bid as a sophmore, but may still take you. If you plan on staying 3 more years it shouldnt be a big issue tho.

Well I may not get the luxury of pledging a top house it's my first last and only chance since I'll be classified as a junior next year even though i won't graduate until 2018 but you know what they say beggars can't be choosers

Hey man I was in the same position as you when I was rushing as spring transfer as a sophomore. Try rushing around semi decent houses. If I could recommend a list of 3 houses you should visit that aren't bad it would be
Top house: phi kappa psi
Middle house: zbt
Up and coming house: sigma Pi
This should give you a good combination of different houses to rush and gives you fall backs. Phi psi is good because they have a new house and solid social scene, zbt since they also are doing well socially, and sigma Pi since they are raking in more numbers every semester and are able to function and pair with a variety of houses(it's rumoured they might be getting a new house in the next year)

Thats a terrible recomendation. Sigma Pi barely has the guys to support themselves, ZBT isnt middle and not getting a buddy isnt what i would call doing well socially, and youre alot better off going to meet the greeks and talking to guys, not listening to self ranks from some ZBT on greek rank
