pref party and bids
by: Pnm
Trying to understand how it all works because my gamma chi was confused-
If I go to 3 pref parties and list all 3 - what are the chances I still won't get a bid?
Also if I list only 2/3 because I don't think I would be happy in #3 then is it correct that I am not eligible for snap bids? But if I know #3 is not for me -should I do this anyway?

Gosh I dont want to confuse anyone so absolutely ask your Gamna Chi or better yet several of them to make sure this is very clear to you! The reason I say this is because snap bids are inevitable because there are quite a few houses that can take more girls than what panhel set as quota. Once all the final bids are assigned from each house, then and only then, can a house that can take more pledges go back through their lists of PNMs and extend a bid to a girl who was not yet extended a bid. This is done before any bids are given out so nobody will know which PNMS were added to the initial list. Its my understanding that if you cut a house at any point thru rush they will obviously not extend a bid to you. However if you come to pref round and simply chose 1 or 2 out of the 3 and don't make the initial bid list for 1 or 2 you should still be available to be snapped up by house 1 or 2 . Again this will all happen before any bids are given out. SO IMPORTANT to get this answered before you leave your list! I think I am correct but pleeeeze make sure!

Keep in mind there are not that many snap bids given out out total. Obviously you aren't going to bet a snap bid from a house you were cut from in the earlier rounds. Each chapter has a ranked list. This list is made up from their pref parties. Say the list has 100 women on it, quota is say 40. Perhaps the chapter has to go down to the first 55 places to match quota of 40. That means there are 45 women that were on their list they did not extend a bid to. But,chances are those woman matched some place else....say out of the 45, 35 matched another chapter. That means only a few woman are left to offer a snap to. Don't count on being offered a snap bid.
