girls getting into frat parties when not in a soro

by:

How likely is it for a girl to get into good frat parties if they aren't in a sorority. I haven't clicked with any of the sororities on campus and feel like dropping but I'm afraid if I do there won't be any parties for me to go to. (I wasn't planning on joining a sorority just for the parties in case someone wants to try and I hate I am just simply curious.)

Usually won't get in unless you know a guy in the house. Too much liability if you are a GDI

If you're not in a house I wouldn't really bother. The few parties you will be allowed into will be the giant ones that are generally open to everyone or a bottom tier house. If it's a list party and you're not in a house don't bother going. Even if there isn't a list most fraternities will ask you to either sign in with your house (and don't try to fool them, they'll know if you're faking if you're unaffiliated). Don't expect to go anywhere decent with a large group of your unaffiliated friends either. Even if you do get into a party, most are two-ways so everyone will know that you don't belong. Getting in as a GDI was much easier years ago, but since houses are cracking down on making sure they 100% know who is entering their house this has become a lot harder.

It gets easier the older you get. As long as you get to know guys in fraternities well they'll be able to put you on the list. Also befrirend sorority girls so you'll at least have people to hang out with at these parties, plus get information about sober drivers, times, etc.

Despite all of this, I wouldn't drop yet. The first few rounds are a crapshoot and you don't really get to know the houses until the later rounds because they're dealing with less people. You'll get a more personalized experience the longer you rush so don't drop just yet.

The only ones I got back were bottom tier so I wouldn't really be going to parties anyways so is it worth it to stay.

I hate the tier system, but so-called "bottom-tier" sororities still go to parties and have a great sisterhood. The one thing the "bottom-tier" sororities are not as good at is recruitment. They don't generate as much excitement, so PNMs are not as attached to them. But they still have great sisterhoods. Your choice - but I'd stick with it. What do you have to lose? You've known them for about 1 hour. I think there's more to them to learn. No one will force you to pledge or initiate if you choose not to.

what houses did you get back? If you are a freshman and only on this campus a week, I don't think you really know what houses are lower tier yet.
Thing is, you might fit in great. You might have more potential as a leader there were in s higher tier house you wouldn't.

All tiers go to parties! With having gone to different tier parties, they are all fun if you try. If you go stand in the corner even top tier parties will suck but if you talk to guys and other people it will be great. Don't think that a house might be low it will not party. Some of the crazy girls are the quiet reserved girls rushing you.

As a sophomore girl who rushed and dropped last year, I was still able to go to a good amount of frat parties despite not being in a sorority. As people above have stated, you or a friend usually need to know a guy in the house to get your name on the list. No, you won't have a party to go to every night of every weekend, but you will definitely still be able to go to parties, even some middle tier frats. As the year progresses you will most likely make more connections and be able to get into more parties. I am planning on checking out KD and I would suggest the same if you end up deciding to drop and still have a desire to be in a sorority.
