convincing my roomie to rush

If she doesnt want to rush that's her choice. Don't force her into anything.

You sound so entitled right now. Your roommate doesn't want to rush and she's made that very clear so just leave her alone. You sound like the stubborn one. At this point she would literally just rush to satisfy your selfish needs.

If your motivation is to help a friend not overlook something you think is awesome, then the best thing you can do is enjoy the process, share what she wants to hear. She might also be interested in checking out the process just to get an informed understanding, and form her own opinion. She might agree to go through the open house stage, just to find out about the system and each participant. After that, it would be up to her, just as each step will be personal to you. The biggest mistake anyone can make is letting other people's opinions form yours.

Why do yo want her to go through recruitment? What if she ends up in the house YOU wanted but were cut from? What if she ends up getting cut from a house and is heartbroken. Then it's your fault! Leave her alone. My room mate didn't rush. She gave me judged looks as I got ready for parties, etc...but so what. Once I pledged and she saw all the fun and fuss going on she regretted it. She rushed the next year, but that was all HER decision.
