How important is it to get recommendation letters for sororities? I am interested in all the top ranked ones, but honestly, I don't want to get recommendation letters if I don't need to. Does it really hep THAT much??? I

No recommendation letter will guarantee you a spot anywhere. Just like how legacies aren't guaranteed either. No amount of outside resources can make up for a bad personality or looks and that's what it really comes down to in recruitment. I haven't heard of anyone getting into the house they wanted by heavily relying on recs.

Also do not just have tunnel vision for the "top" sororities. Numerous sororities have moved around in rankings in the past 3 years. Have an open mind when going through all of the houses. You'll find your best pick by actually going through the process, so don't worry so much about outside factors.

I hope you put more into a sorority you might join than your showing now. Basically, you are saying "I am to lazy to make a couple of phone calls and ask for a letter of recommendation." If you are that lazy now, what will you have to offer a chapter?
The above poster is correct that they aren't as important at PU as say Alabama. With that being said, having a rec form is like getting introduced early. The chapter will already know something about you before you even walk in the door. Past the first party, unless you are a legacy it doesn't matter. Most houses, if they carry a legacy thru pref parties, she will be on their bid list. With that being said, a legacy in most houses are only Grandmother, mother or sister. Aunts and cousins aren't legacy.

Totally agree with Anon........change your attitude. Houses don't want lazy girls and particularly ones who think they are "it" & only worthy for a "top" house. Don't be so damn full of yourself and BTW yes, top houses will cut a gorgeous girl with an attitude, trust me.
