sophomore rush

by: nervous sophmore

do i have a shot at a house like dg or chio? I have a 3.6 GPA, was decently involved on campus last year, am not overweight, fairly pretty, and have a good personality. I just don't want to get my hopes up if uppermiddle tier and lower top tier don't take sophomores.

You are hurting your chances of getting into a house because of your attitude more than anything. A PNM going through rush who has strikes against her (sophomore, possibly went thru rush as a frosh & didn't get a bid) and deciding for yourself which two houses you want before it's all over, pretty much sets you up for a very unhappy outcome. Change your attitude.

i didn't rush freshman year. I'm not closed to other sororities. I was just wondering if upper middle tier or lower top tier took sophomores. (Not necessarily dg or chi o just used them as examples) ....

The bigger question at hand should be WHY a sorority being upper-middle tier, lower-top tier, whatever tier is your first priority. When looking for a sorority, try to look into whichever one you believe can create the strongest sisterhood, the one that can help you excel in all aspects in life (social aspects included). A sorority is a lifelong commitment, not an accessory. The biggest mistake you can make is treating your potential house like a status symbol, and filtering out other perfectly good houses due to preconceived notions.
