recruitment

by: loveallsororitys

To Anon: It's not entirely true! The best outlook for any girl going through recruitment is to be open minded to ALL the girls and houses. Those who are often heart broken are the ones who think they know best which house is right for them, tend to only look at ridiculous rankings on this site, and do not leave yourself open to the possibility of finding a house that you will love. At Purdue you are guaranteed a bid from one of the final formal parties you attend! Those who are too short sided and walk out during recruitment get what they deserve. As long as you are willing to attend all parties you are asked to attend, you WILL receive a bid. If you are the type of person that cares more about what others think over your potential happiness in a house, than you probably have a lot of growing up to do.

^ you are not guaranteed a bid if you make it to prefer parties. You could be cross cut and end up without a bid. It doesn't happen often, but it does happen. You could possibly be offered a "snap bid" if one of the houses was under quota.
If you don't understand the process of cross cut... Google it, easier than trying to explain.

Someone from Panhel chime in and clarify? I thought the point of going to three final parties instead of two is in order to guarantee a PNM a bid to one of the three houses invited to attend a final party. I understand if you are only invited to one or two final parties this may not be true.

It is pretty standard that there are 3 pref parties during recruitment, unless it's a small Greek system. If a girl is not offered a bid, her Gamma Chi will let her know earlier in the day and she will not go to bid night when bids are handed out.
Some PNM's could possibly only have 2 pref parties or possibly only 1 depending on if she was cut during recruitment. Not all PNM's will have 3 pref parties.
Say a PNM has only 2 pref parties. She lists house A as #1 and house B as #2. Each house ranks the PNM's 1-?, usually on 2 lists. She is not on house A's first list, so depending where she is on their second list they might fill their pledge
class before getting to her name. So no match there. Depending on where she is ranked on house B's list will determine if she matches.
