am i just SOL???

first off, why are you rushing as a sophomore instead of freshman year? think about the GPA you listed on the form. it is harder for sophomores to get bids from top houses but its not impossible. why are you joining a sorority as a sophomore? did you just feel FOMO freshman year? did you not make friends? do you just want to party?
next, let’s think about this from an unbiased perspective. how was your primary experience like? how many houses did you get back for first invite? second invite? pref? why exactly did you drop from primary and which houses did you get back for each round? would you consider yourself to be attractive?
perhaps you appeared to be fake or awkward when you talked to the girls? during rounds were you asking the girls lots of questions or did the conversation flow easily? how many houses did you feel a genuine connection to and how many of those houses called you back?
and what is a bottom house for you? is it just agd and below or do you consider it to be anything below axd? or anything below chi o?
remember that cob has a lot less spots available. there were 9 girls who rushed this year who got dropped from every single house. if top/middle houses were not inviting you back after open house, what makes you sure that they will give you a bid now?
if you’re looking for the average sorority experience then you might just have to join a bottom house. nobody is going to laugh at you if they see you wearing a bottom house shirt in public, the same way they will not give you special treatment for wearing a top house shirt either.

your focus should not be rankings right now, being a sophomore doing COB is already a huge disadvantage because you’ve already had 2 opportunities for primary plus spring cob last year. let me give you some hard advice: make connections with sorority girls on exec positions who could potentially give you an in. also focus on your grades, top houses are not looking for people with under a 3.0 gpa. join clubs, get involved with stuff on campus and build up your profile. in a lot of top houses they really only bid girls who were invited to pref and sometimes second invite so go for those first. and lastly during cob events, just be yourself, i cannot emphasize this enough. don’t talk about how popular you were in high school because nobody wants to hear that. be honest about why you are rushing as a sophomore. houses can see through people who try to put on a fake personality and you don’t want to try it during COB even the stakes are even lower.
