Re tear downs & “self ranks” - all misinformation

by: ignorefakeinfo

Greek rank is filled with both self-rankings and fake tear-downs - it’s a spiral. Someone tears down a house and maybe that house gets defensive especially if the tear down has no substance and is simply mean. Spotting self-ranking and tear down posts is pretty easy. Does it have a perfect 5 stars or a super low score? Odds increase that it’s a self-rank/tear down. Does it have a silly name/content or really mean spirited comments? Odds increase that it’s self-rank/tear down. Instead of just reading the first page of the reviews (which will undoubtedly be filled with a bunch of self-rank or tear-down posts), go until you find an average (closer to 3.0-4.0) review as these tend to be more honest a reflect a less biased opinion of the chapter.

I think this site was meant to be a resource for rushees/PNMs to learn about a chapter, but it’s become mostly superficial junk and infighting. It should not be a place to tear down other houses, which can lead to understandably defensive inflation; and it all becomes meaningless. Rushees, PNMs—these ranks are an extremely narrow view of the Greek community here at this campus. It’s like going to a restaurant, ordering a side salad, and basing your opinion of the lasagna off of that one item. So, I encourage you all – even you actives – to try and provide honest feedback and make this site and this campus a little more unified.

That said, I wouldnt even look at the reviews/rankings. The negative ones are all so false and wrong and obviously mean spirited, it hurts to read. Honestly, you have no idea of telling which comments/ranks are actually genuine. Some positive ones are real, some negative ones could be too. Bottom line - Go see the houses for yourself and make a decision based on that! Don't rule a fraternity or sorority out cause of the stupid crap written on this site. Greekrank is simply for entertainment in my eyes, nothing more.
