Why more houses are doing COB
by: cobMost people are under the impression that houses do cob because they did not get enough girls after bid day, or too many girls drop from the pc but this is wrong. COB most often occurs because both nationals and panhel for the organization give them numbers they must bring in, most often panhels are lower than the minimum from nationals, there by forcing that house to do COB. for example if a panhel said a house can at most give bids to 45 people but nationals says at a minimum they need 50 people, the house will have to do COB for 5 people. I am sick of everyone assuming houses are doing cob because they're "falling off" when in reality their nationals quotas are just increasing.

Usually, for most houses at Purdue, quota is also determined by the number of seniors and how many will be living in the house. See- there’s this thing where houses can not survive without housing payment, so, if there’s not enough women to fill the empty spaces, how is it going to survive? Bills need to be paid- so- COB IS because not enough pledges were taken…. AND because many have dropped whether pledges or actives because either they’re seniors and want to live out and not pay dues, or they realize they hate being in the house. It’s ALL about house capacity at Purdue. Panhel / nationals wants everyone to live in if there’s houses.

There is no quota given by nationals -- would be counterintuitive since every school, chapter, and recruitment season is sooo different. Quota is given out by Purdue based on the average PC size and amount of girls rushing to make sure certain houses don't get too big. So COB is always just because houses didn't get enough girls or because so many people dropped that they're not at the size Purdue needs them to be at for the sake of fairness and consistency
