If you’re pretty (and you know it, you constantly plaster photos of yourself online, don’t care too much about your studies or a solid GPA, are totally self-absorbed, are currently or are trying to be an “Instagram Queen”, and your main focus is partying, clothes, make-up and boys—you’ll make a PERFECT ALPHI PHI!!!

Each house has different vibe and will click with people differently.

The national Aphi issues are well documented on the internet for those that’ care to search it out and there was a brilliant expose written by a former recruitment chair at Michigan a few years ago. Nothing has changed. The sorority is infamous for ranking it’s own members with a number and this number determines a members role in recruitment and in the house. Low number people are literally sent to the kitchen and kept away from pnms. If you want to be tagged with a number for 4 years then this is the house for you IMO!

Look at how people in the house treat each other during recruitment! Sisterhood and enjoying each other is impt IMO. Some houses have better sisterhood than others (wink wink to aphi who for some reason each year has a high drop rate vs most other houses here ….wonder why?).

Some houses are also really full of legacies and “Indiana only” and out of state folks need not apply. IMO only kappa fits this mold as they seem to have their pledge class done before recruitment even starts. Yawn…..

Chio is more diverse and relaxed IMO vs other 2 houses and does recruit from outside Indiana. Academics are impt in the house and they tend to not be as social media obsessed as aphi and kappa too IMO.

Find the house where you feel comfortable and believe you will be happy! If you feel you have to mold yourself into something you are not in order to fit into a house then IMO you are signing up for a miserable 4 years! Look at drop rates and look at how many folks in the house stick around to have a graduation picture taken with their sisters! These little things will tell you a lot about the house and it’s sisterhood.

The funny thing is these 3 are considered to be the tippity top houses when in fact that’s not necessarily true. There’s other houses that are also tippity top based on individual opinion. The following are some of the best houses- not in any order-

DZ, Pi phi, DG, DDD, AXO, Theta, ZTA, Phi Mu

i’m in pi phi and i just wanted to speak on the sisterhood in our house because i love it so much. this house is so inclusive, you can literally tag along with anyone to do anything. if girls are heading out to lunch, they’ll text in our big group chat and ask if anyone wants to come along. everyone’s always happy to do favors, even if you don’t know the other girl the best (which happens, as there’s ~130 girls). I’m really grateful to be here.

Truth is Purdue has several “top houses” who all pair with top frats. But alpha phi, chi o & Kappa all have strong reputations and are typically most sought after during rush.

Alpha Phi & Chi O are more similar in my opinion. They take out of state girls, and both are fun and pair well with frats. Chi O is definitely more focused on academics & Alpha Phi is more focused on partying.

Whoever said kappa picks their PC out before rush is right. All in state girls plus a couple smart ones from out of state who feel like outsiders. Kappa gives off “I’m too good for everyone” vibe unless you’re Fiji.

You totally nailed it! For any cut early by kappa know that it has nothing to do with you. Kappa simply has its class done and at most might take 2 or 3 people that weren’t on the pre rush list. Also know that because of the way they recruit that if you are the exception and one of the 2-3 that make it to pref that you will feel like an outsider for 4 years. Sad but true as the house is not welcoming to non Indiana peeps at all. Facts. So, just keep it moving and focus on houses that want you and have a welcoming attitude and positive spirit. As you go through recruitment ask folks you meet if they are a kappa legacy. You will meet a bunch and most likely they will pledge kappa. Way of the world unfortunately.
