[serious] why are there so many
by: genuinely curious
Why are there so many conservative leaning people that come to this school? (I respect both conservatives and liberals BTW.)
When I go to party at IU, UMich, UIUC I notice there is a much more liberal vibe all around. What specifically about Purdue attracts a noticeably higher ratio of conservatives? (And no, I am not talking about the engineers.)

Could possible be because we are in Indiana. Also Purdue is more known for engineering over liberal arts. I feel most engineers won’t support free health care Bc it’s included in their insurance. And engineering and any stem major especially at Purdue wouldn’t like it if you could get good insurance without putting in the work

I'm in engineering, about to graduate this semester, and I acted pretty standoffish toward people here given that most come from conservative families. TBH I probably would've fit in better at IU but oh well. I only came here for engineering and get a job lined up after graduation which I successfully have.

A lot of the men’s majors not in engineering are in either construction management, Krannert, or ag, or selling sales. I’d argue all of these could have a tendency to be right over majors at other schools
