Each chapter does rush their own way, but I will speak for my own chapter and what I know of others. For the most part, your app helps you get points to get through the first round. That's it. From there on, all we care about are the conversations we have with you.
So yeah, a 4.2 and student body prez can help you get you to first invite, but after that it doesn't really matter.

Having a good gpa and lots of high school involvement shows a sorority that you can prioritize your time and still get decent grades. Sororities DO want a girl who is involved because it can indicate that you won’t be a deadbeat member. Grades ARE important because if you cannot maintain a required gpa, you WILL be put on academic probation and won’t be able to participate in some things. Not only do you risk academic probation with your respective house, but the university too. Sorority life can take up a lot of time.

But, most importantly, it IS the connections you make with the couple actives you meet in a specific house during recruitment. Then hope and pray that those you do meet are popular sisters as the popular sisters and very involved sisters are the ones who end up picking the pledge class.
