joining a sorority? here’s the truth.

There are 19 sororities at Purdue that do fall recruitment. Ever since Panhellenic started controlling everything sororities do and Cutler kicked off formerly popular fraternities or issued intense probations to current ones, there has been a lot of gray area and overlap that would have been unimaginable in the early 2000’s. Truth is, with so few fraternities left to gauge social status from pairings, the top 10 sororities are slowly blending together. There is still some distinction between top and middle houses but the gap is negligable compared to the one forming between upper mid and lower mid. You’re either in a relevant sorority now or you’re not. Having said that, if you find your best fit is not in one of the sororities listed below, join that house. You will be happier with sisters you get along with over having a consistent social calendar with girls you don’t like.

Chi Omega
Delta Delta Delta
Delta Gamma
Delta Zeta
Kappa Alpha Theta

These are the end all be all houses if a social life is important to you. Quite trying to sugar coat things, PNM’s aren’t babies. These are the only houses that function with relevant fraternities. The lower half sororities are forced to hang out with dry houses or bottom tier creepy guys.

The houses listed above are more likely to function with "higher tier" fraternities. All sororities function, but the fraternities they pair with differ. However you're going to be living with your sisters and spending much more time with them than in some frat basement so be sure to choose the group of girls you feel most comfortable with.

Usually if a girl says she’s in one of the above houses, guys will give her more attention. Obviously NOT EVERYONE cares like that but that’s just how some dudes operate. Lower tier frats will ditch their lower tier sorority friends if they get the opportunity to hang out with a more popular sorority. Ppl are shallow, thirsty, and entitled here.

i think “relevant” is the wrong word. it’s more like the houses that are prioritized for lists. it’s true tho that you need to like the girls you’re going to parties with so as long as you try to stay in at least the top 2/3 you should be fine. parties aren’t gonna be great this year anyway unless you’re really in the top 4-5.

the difference in quality of girl is so drastic at the halfway point like compare zeta (bottom of the top) vs phi mu (top of the bottom). if you want to be relevant, rush top half

A phi: wealthy, blonde model types
Chi O: eclectic, diverse personalities, cool
Tri Delt: fun & flirty
DG: classy, smart
DZ: v similar to tri delt, hold each other accountable
Theta: smart, fun, balanced
KKG: pretty, girl next door, wealthy
Pi Phi: fun, cool, edgy
Zeta: down to earth, fun, sweet
Just wanted to contribute a positive twist on "rankings" and stereotypes. Obviously go into rush with an open mind but these are the positive take aways from the houses listed above and how most people generally view them

It would be nice to include something positive about the other sororities as well. They too offer the same as the ones mentioned above. It’s only a matter of opinion as to what is considered ‘relevant’ - it’s not as if they don’t exist and pnm’s Can find a fab sisterhood that fits them within those sororities that aren’t even mentioned.

Honestly I don’t know much about those not listed but anyone who does feel free to add on!! I don’t want to speak about something I don’t know about.

the END ALL/BE ALL houses. Here is the REAL truth go through recruitment with an open mind and see which house is the best fit
