difference between high and low tier fraternity
by: boiler up
Hi, I am coming to Purdue next year and want to have a substantial social life.
What kind of guys are in top tier frats? The sons of rich executives and rich engineers?
What kind of guys are in bottom tier frats? The sons of middle class workers?
Why is there a difference? What do "top tier" frats have that the others dont?

Rush the house you love, be proud to call your brothers your brothers. That's all there is to it. Bottom houses have wealthy people just like top ones. People get too caught up in tiers, end up joining a place they don't fit and get dropped or want to drop.
There are only one or two top houses that are top houses very known for wealth. Don't ask other people for their opinions, your gut instinct is the only thing that matters when choosing a house. Choose one for money or status and you will spend your years regretting it.
If you are judging houses based on who is rich and who isn't Greek Life probably isn't for you. Most people in Greek Life are at least above average in income. All houses have wealthy people.
Anyone in a top house, myself included, would not give you a bid solely on this post. What makes a house "top" at the end of the day is the level of brotherhood. Seeing a close knit group of brothers gets respect from the rest of campus.
