Purdue Greek life isn't dying, but it's going through one of it's hardest phases. Many people like to blame ZBT or write off these problems as "somebody else's mistake" but the truth is far different.
Firstly, there is very little Greek community here. People take the idea of 'tiers' too seriously and thus it prompts a culture of competition rather than cooperation. Everyone wants to be the popular kids who only hang out with other popular kids. It's high school 2.0.
Secondly, sororities need to get over themselves as organizations. Stop treating fraternities like they only exist for you to party at and realize how good you have it. You're offered free rides to a house you never have to clean to drink for free. As a member of a fraternity exec board I've had to deal with many girls that have almost gotten us in trouble because they had too much to drink and had 0 respect for fraternities in general.
Finally, fraternities need to stop being dumb. Having pledges is fun and having them do stupid things to bond is also fun. Don't take it too far. Functions are fun but its not fun talking to Cutler because you gave too much hard alcohol to a girl who can hardly handle a beer. If you're going to break a rule either have a damn good risk manager or be prepared to deal with it's consequences.
