During formal recruitment you should ask these types of questions, however most chapters don't have a strict minimum to incoming freshman.

There are different ways to support new members with achieving a high level of academic success.... like study buddies, times when girls study together at the library, mentors in the same major or have taken that class, scholar of the week, etc (at least in my chapter!).
