how cutthroat is recruitment?

by: Newbie

How does Purdue's recruitment compare to the recruitment at Southern schools? I have a friend going to a large SEC school and it seems so much more stressful, and it hasn't even started yet. Is there a huge emphasis placed on in-state girls from the 'right' zip code?

Probably the most laid-back recruitment ever for a big public school. I know girls who signed up for rush literally minutes before the deadline and ended up in great houses.

Also, none of the houses here place emphasis on in state vs out of state.

Even compared to IU as far as instate it's way more laid back

Panhel is very in control here, making recruitment very laid back and values based. Lots of girls rush, but a large percentage get into houses. Chapters are not as large as they are in the south, meaning more live in years but also the right amount of girls to know well without being overwhelmed

I take one night with those hot southern SEC girls over a whole year of what we have to choose from at Purdue.

As if southern guys are more open minded than guys here LOL. Not saying Purdue guys are open minded but were talking Alabama and Mississippi here like seriously?

Hey, don't hate on the south. I'm from the south (I won't say which state, but sadly, I swear I'm the only girl from there), and I am far from that. Also, girls, Purdue is nothing like rushing at SEC schools. Several family members of mine went to UGA, and several of my friends go there, Bama, Ole Miss, UTK, TCU, UT-austin, etc. For example, you have to get at least 2-3 recommendations for EACH sorority at those schools, but at Purdue, you don't even need a single one. I went into it thinking we had to, so I sent off a few recs here and there. They don't care at all and practically throw them away. I ended up in a top house pretty easily and wasn't dropped from any, but in the south, who knows how it would've gone. It's cutthroat down there to say the least. Also-- for whoever insulted the girls at Purdue, they're honestly the same, but southern girls dress up more and put WAYYY more effort into looks. That's just how it is down there. People dress to the 9's all the time, so that's why it may seem that way. For the girls, I swear the guys are all taller here, so you have that to look forward to lol

Actually, recommendations ARE looked at and ARE considered here! Do they make or break you? Not necessarily. But recs do put the pnms with them ahead of the other pnms before recruitment begins with the prepoints system. They never hurt :)

Don't worry, rush is not stressful here unless you choose to make it stressful!
Just focus on whether you like the girls you meet on the inside of the house, not the letters on the outside of the house.

How many girls rush and how many are given bids?

All depends on how many girls rush this past year more of pnms then usual didn't get into a house at all but that's just because there were so many of them majority of girls get a bid
