frat descriptions
by: Freshman 2017Hey, I'm an incoming freshmen. I want to rush but I don't know much about the frats here. Can anyone write a brief description of each of the houses?

I will try my best to keep the houses in order of ranking, and give a description of the: physical house, parties, guys, brotherhood, anything else noteworthy. Rankings at Purdue are pretty superficial and come down to looks, parties, and how cool the guys are. Brotherhood stems a lot from the way their pledgeship is organized. Some houses are in serious trouble with the university so I will leave them to the end because we don’t know where they’ll end up ranking wise. I’m only going through the middle tier.
----------------------------------Top-------------------- ----------------
Fiji
Physical house: Used to be pretty bad and old, however they are undergoing a new renovation
Parties: Fun but lowkey, they will never have more than a 4 way at their house. We will see if having more space changes things
Guys: All around decent guys, seem to get along with everyone, type of guy in high school that was a varsity captain that still was nice to people on JV.
Brotherhood: Good brotherhood, very secretive about their house, you’re a Fiji till you die
Anything else: All around great house, I honestly can’t give them much of a stereotype even.

Phi Psi
Physical house: One of the nicest physical houses in one of the best locations
Parties: Best darties and tailgates on campus, functions are generally big
Guys: Care a lot about their image and are generally douchebags
Brotherhood: Poor brotherhood, guys only talk to their own pledge classes. Different pledge classes tend to hate each other
Anything else: One of the lowest GPA’s on campus
Sigma Chi
Physical house: The best physical house on campus (Yes beta is nicer but who cares about beta)
Parties: Known for throwing Jersey Tuesday, however, they have a probation that limits the amount they function so we will see how it plays out.
Guys: Rich guys, do not talk to girls at parties. Split between nice guys and the most entitled people on campus
Brotherhood: Strong brotherhood due to sense of pride in the history of the house, Drew Brees was a Sigma Chi.
Anything else: When you think of a fraternity based on TFM, these are the guys you’re thinking of. They made a rush video, you can find it on youtube.

------------------------------------Upper Middle----------------------------------------
Pi Kapps
Physical house: One of the tiniest houses on campus
Parties: Hit or miss on parties, it’s either a banger or dead
Guys: Funny nice guys, seem to get along with everyone, care a lot about school and being involved
Brotherhood: Strong brotherhood, all the pledge classes get along well
Anything else: Have been getting progressively cooler guys every year, they made a rush video on youtube parodying Sigma Chi’s video.
AGR
Physical house: Best basement on campus, rest of the house is decent
Parties: Huge parties generally 6 ways
Guys: Country guys, almost everyone in this house is some form of agricultural major
Brotherhood: Smaller amount of brothers so they are all much closer to each other
Anything else: Will probably forever remain around this ranking due to being an agriculture house.

ZBT
Physical house: Really meh physical house
Parties: They’ll invite A phi, Pi Phi, Kappa, Chi O, DG, Kappa Sig, Pi Kapps, and Sigma Chi over while only AXO, Phi Mu, and AZD show up.
Guys: The guys have gone from being the nice friendzone kinda guy to try hard social climbers in a span of 2 years.
Brotherhood: There is no brotherhood in this house, had a pledge class of 60 or so this year which is ridiculous, in addition to having NO PLEDGESHIP.
Anything else: This house is trying very very VERY hard to social climb. The only reason they are where they are now is because they rat on other houses to kick them off (Lambda and Dchi), and half the houses were on probation last year. Bids everyone.
Delts
Physical house: Decent house
Parties: Cram as many people in their basement as possible kinda parties
Guys: Decentish? Seem to get along with everyone, I can’t say anything very positive or negative about them.
Brotherhood: Strong brotherhood, all the guys seem to like each other and get along well
Anything else: Recent pledge classes have been cooler than old ones

DU
Physical house: New house, all around pretty nice
Parties: Have gotten better every year since I’ve been here
Guys: Pretty funny, I can’t really peg what kind of guys they are, they’re just starting to catch their stride
Brotherhood: Average brotherhood, guys don’t hate each other but they don’t all love each other
Anything else: Rising due to Lambda and D chi getting kicked off, but in a respectful way

Overall there is a house for everyone, just use this as a guide to get a feel before you rush. Ultimately you know what is best for you. Some quick rush advice.
Be yourself
Houses that dirty rush aren't good houses
What house you join affects your next 4 years
You and your friends probably won't end up in the same house
Rush as many different houses as you can then narrow down (DONT SUICIDE RUSH)
Finally, have fun

I better never see another freshmen asking about frat rankings or what house is right for them. This is litterally spot on and super detailed for each of all the frats that are relevant at Purdue. Just refer pnm to this post. Big shout out to whoever wrote this, it's the most accurate unbiased portray of relavant houses going into the 2017-2018 school year. You really won't find any more info out about anyone than what's written here, it's just a guide that helps you narrow down which houses you should go check out and form your own opinions on And find the right fit for you.

On Phi Psi, I will say that their house is starting to fall apart. They've had a lot of trouble with leaks and stuff. It's still probably one of the nicest houses on campus, but don't think that you're going to be living in a paradise. I'm not trying to bash on Phi Psi, since I actually have a few good friends in there, but I'm saying that you should take the physical house with a grain of salt sometimes, because every single house, at the end of the day, is a frat house. They're dirty, they're sticky, and everything breaks eventually. And, especially for the "top" houses...they tend to throw bigger parties with more people, so the house is going to wear out a lot faster.
