unsure of new house
by: sos idkI just got my bid to my house yesterday and I love some of the girls in my new PC and everything but I felt kind of awkward with everyone yesterday and found myself thinking if i was in another house i'd be screaming and happier. Does this mean that this house wasn't meant to be? I'm a sophomore who didn't rush last year and I kind wish I did so I could have a second chance at this all. I feel super conflicted cause I love greek life but I don't know if it's for me anymore

Don't even compare the house that gave you a bid with the house you would "scream with happiness" over cuz that house wasn't going to give you a bid -even if you rushed as a freshman. The girls in the houses know who fits in well with their sisters. Particularly as a sophomore, if you can't be grateful for the house that wants you then you should drop immediately and give someone else a chance.

Your feelings are not abnormal. You didn't get into your first choices and you're disappointed. That's normal. It doesn't mean you won't like your house. Give it some time and see if you're feelings change. My guess is they will. I'm in a house that was my 8th choice on day 1. I was super disappointed to be dropped my faves. But now a year later - I wouldn't trade my house in for any other. I love my sisters and my sorority.
Best of luck.

Bid day can always be awkward even if you love the house. You are getting shoved into a group of over 100 girls that you might only know a handful of. Give it time and try to get to know the girls and maybe the older pledge class, which would be your age. Like already said, you have to commit to the house. If you aren't going to try to know anyone it won't get better but if you try you might find girls that you really like. Don't judge the house by the little bit of time you have spent with them.

And remember this is probably your only change to Go Greek. Try it out fully - don't make emotional decisions you might regret later.
