I really want to join a sorority and I signed up for recruitment, but I know that my parent's don't approve. Has anyone in a sorority already had this problem? How did you convince them?
They say that they won't pay for it if I join, and I'm not sure I have the money since it is pretty expensive. Do any sororities offer scholarships?

When you move in to the house you will see that housing is actually cheaper than the dorm. What makes it more expensive is obviously the social events, favors. etc that go along with it. These are usually on a pay as you participate basis. There are some initial heavier costs to pledge & initiate as the chapter has to pay Nationals to have you registered as a member, etc. I know lots of girls who have to pay for their extras over the housing payment. If you really want it you will most likely be able to afford it. Some of the new houses that are building their house may be higher to move in to as they establish. Something to check in to if you get to that point. Talk to your parents about this BEFORE you go to your preference round - NOT after receiving a bid. Dropping out as a new member because of "financial" reasons is not cool. Sororities really get ticked when PNM's drop for things like this. It's something you should have worked out long before. Research and plan accordingly. I don't think any chapters offer scholarships on a needs basis. Most are for high achievement and academic performance. They don't go to PNMs.
