I'm really excited to be rushing next year but am pretty stressed out by this whole recommendation process. How much weight do sororities at Purdue put on recs? I don't personally know any alumni, and was wondering if I'm going to have to hunt down local alumni. Thanks!

Recommendations here aren't a huge deal-- they won't make or break you. I would only contact chapters if you are a legacy in a sorority!
