If I'm rushing this fall how important are recs?

Not important at all. They usually will get you an invite back to the 2nd party, but they won't hesitate to cut you for the 3rd, even if you're a legacy.

They can only help you, but you don't NEED them. If you have a few women offering to write letters for you, then go ahead and let them, but I wouldn't waste a lot of time actively seeking them out. They will usually get you to the second round at a house, but that may help you make a better impression if you happened to get off on the wrong foot first round. Good luck with recruitment!
