No house really cares about where you're from, but I will say that as a northerner I did have some trouble connecting with the southern girls that I was talking to during rush. And when I did recruitment on the sister side, some girls who had more "northern" personalities got mistaken for being rude or disinterested. But if you can get around that then you should be fine

No house is going to drop you solely because you are out of state/northern. However, there are some house that are predominantly southern which, regardless of their "tier", I knew that I wasn't going to fit in as much and click with the girls. I agree that people take the northern personalities to be rude and standoff-ish sometimes, but if a house really wants you after round 1, the girls that will rush you will most likely be northern girls that are in the sorority since they'll want to make it known that you will feel comfortable there as an out of stater.

i'd say if you're out of state it is unlikely you will get a bid from a top tier house because of connections and what not. even before rush, they probably have the majority of the girls picked out that they're going to give bids to based solely on those connections. however, a lower/mid tier house will more likely give you a bid as an out of stater from what i've noticed. they're looking for that type of diversity
