just saying

It's hypocritical AF when people bash others for not wanting to be in a "bottom tier" house, when they themselves are in a mid/top tier. There's a reason you yourself cut the "bottom" houses and you're lying to yourself if you don't admit it. You're no better than the people you chastise

You are assuming that some houses do not make cuts. They all make cuts and it is a matching process. Different groups are looking for different qualities in their members. Different rushees also value different qualities. So what is it that you really want? To be hot? cool? Chill? Nice? Accepted? Social status? Or perhaps a strong sisterhood ? Or maybe you would rather forget it all because the system
Is so harsh? Your value as a person does not depend upon what sorority you are in. College is about expanding your mindset and meeting new people. But, be aware
you can get cut from any sorority . It's not all about you. Even Alpha Phi will make cuts. Good luck as you consider what is important to you .

guess what? Lots of people ignore the tiers all together and just rush, and end up in a middle/top tier house. Then, they see girls having their hearts broken for no reason, and encourage them to ignore the tier system and just have faith in the system (like they did)

I'm a senior in a middle tier house that I love. When I was a freshman, I preffed a top tier, a middle tier, and a bottom tier. I was soooooo worried over what I heard during tent talk that week, that I only listed the top tier and the middle tier on my pref card. I was LUCKY to get my 2nd choice. I could have missed out on getting a bid altogether.

Now that I'm a senior, I've made friends in all the houses. I'm ashamed that I let the rumors cloud my judgment. I should have put the bottom tier house on my pref card. I would have been just as happy there as with the top tier or my current middle tier house. Also, I would have been GUARANTEED A BID if I had maxed out my pref card.

All 10 houses are amazing. Tiers only exist during rush and the drags you mix with. Little known secret: all frat boys are the same. Plus, frat guys will still date you no matter what house you're in if they think you're cool and hot. And, all of our sororities are hotter than all of the Dook sororities, so the Dook frats love to mix with Carolina frats.

Good luck tonight!!!

One other thing to remember, middle tiers were probably once lower tiers. They moved up because wonderful girls were looking for sisterhood over status. The ironic result is that eventually the status improved. It sounds like there are several PNM's who are in the same situation. If you all join a sorority together, you will have a blast, you will make new friends, and your presence might just be enough to improve the status over the next 4 years.

Tiers are cyclical. I know for a fact that both bottom tier sororities were once middle tier sororities, one middle tier used to be a top tier, one top tier use to be a middle tier, and one middle tier used to be a bottom tier.

My mother went to UNC in the late 80's and there was Kappa Alpha Theta at the time. It was the next to bottom and Tri-Sig was the bottom then too. I think Kappa slipped into Thetas place when Theta left.

I was a Kappa in the late 90s and early 2000s. We were a solid middle tier. So was Tri Sig. Delta Zeta and Phi Mu were the bottom 2. Phi Mu closed in 2002 and DZ closed in 2003. Kappa and Tri sig fell into the bottom 2 when there were only 9 houses instead of 11.

And that's a 10 year difference. I'm just telling you what she told me. She was a KD

The 3 posts above prove my point from earlier that tiers are cyclical. Furthermore, pi phi was a top tier in the 70s.
