truth about rush

by:

basically, rush for both fraternities and sororities is pretty superficial. A lot of the "top" sororities and fraternities (big four fraternities=phi gam, dke, beta, phi delt, big three sororities=chi o, tri delt, kd) care first and foremost about your wealth and/or connections, family, etc. It's what makes their hot rushees stand out. With that being said, not all of the top fraternities and sororities absolutely require that you are wealthy and connected (except dke) in order to get a bid (sororities are less strict with this simply because they take more girls). In that case, image and personality come into play--but lets be honest--image is a big part of that. The other sororities and fraternities not listed above give a much fairer shot to rushees, and judge them based on overall image, personality, assets of a good friend/person. So honestly, in many cases, very cool people wind up in the "middle tier" because they aren't wealthy or connected.

I'm honestly not trying to be mean but If we're being honest the middle and lower tier get the leftovers after they are cut and rejected. But for the most part, most people when you meet them during rush want to be in a certain top and love it, but that opinion changes as soon as they get dropped. Hmm. Yes there are exceptions where some people hate those house but the most part only change their minds latter. Yes top tiers take who they already know because they already know if you dot im and legacies generally don't matter at our school in general. Also, they don't really know what your parents make. They can assume but there isn't some magical database to look up these facts. I know plenty of guys and girls in "top tiers" who pay some or all of their dues. Anyways, there are cool people in all fraternities and sororities and you'll probably find your niche wherever you are. Therefore you shouldn't be mad when people put rankings on here and try to bash one another. Freshmen will learn the reputation of houses the moment they get on campus. It doesn't make a difference of they read it here or not
