by: Serious questionI have been wondering this ever since Bid day. I was flat out PROMISED a big from ZTA. On Pref night, I was told, and I quote, "If you rank us first, you'll get a bid - you're high up on our first bid list." So I did, even though I could have been equally happy in the other house I preffed. It felt good to be wanted that much. But I got my second choice (thank God because I love them!). Since then, I've talked to at least two other girls that had the same thing happen. I know this is considered dirty rushing. I'm considering turning them in - I have a text message from an active that I got on Pref night asking me what I wrote on my card. What should I do? Let it go cause I'm fine where I am? Or get them to stop doing this with the proof I have?

I am a current ZTA Alumni Advisor (different chapter) that was encouraged to look at this thread. If anyone has a serious concern about how Recruitment operates in your Chapter, I encourage you to do what "Serious Question" did and talk to the Panhellenic Advisory Board at your school. This is not what ZTA is about.

I mean I know you weren't happy about this but you said you're really happy where you are right? Then why go get another girl in trouble out of spite if you don't actually care anymore? I mean yes they broke the rules, but you shouldn't go get a girl potentially kicked out for that. Maybe report it to their president and not Panhellenic. They'll still get repercussions just not as severe

because they can't keep doing this. if it has happened to as many people as i've heard (i personally know at least 3), then it's a chapter thing and not just a girl thing

Yes, I LOVE my house! It seems like you want me to back off because I'm happy with my situation. That is not who I am! I want to represent all of the girls that were misled. You said "why go get another girl in trouble out of spite if you don't really care anymore?" I do care!

In response to the I've never heard of anything like this before. I don't actually care about all this but Phi Mu and Pi Phi are known for sometimes doing what the first said happened to her. I have names of specific people but you know I'm not stooping that low on social media. Also, SIGMA HAD THEIR ELON RUSH FOR THEM. That's shadier than Zta. Like I said I don't really care, just feeding fuel to the flame. If you feel the need to be the rush police and report them go ahead

Why do you feel the need to bring Phi Mu into this? My goal is to get a fair Recruitment. It's a moot point, though. I'm hoping the original poster has sent her evidence to UNC Panhellenic.

You're clearly trying to intimidate "Serious Question" with name calling ("rush police") and saying you're not "stooping so low." The only people stooping low in this scenario are you right now, and ZTA for obviously allowing this to happen year after year. Take note that even an Alumni Advisor is telling her to report them — and not just "Serious Question" but all of the girls who spoke up saying the same thing happened to them. She has a lot of support behind her and doesn't need the likes of you trying to bully her into being quiet. She's doing the right thing, and she knows it.

Don't be afraid to share your story! I have been assured that it won't come back to bite you, even if you want to go through Recruitment again! We have to make ZTA follow the same rules and run a clean Recruitment.
