rush

by:

So I'm a sophomore transfer looking to rush some frats. As a transfer am I screwed for getting bids? Plus I do not know anyone in any of the frats does that mean chances for my bid is gone out the window? Besides how hard is it to get a bid ? Off all the 23 frats whic frats are easier to get a bid to and which ones are the hardest?

The hardest bids are the best fraternities. Without knowing people, you probably don't have a chance at DKE but that's probably it. The next hardest will be Beta, Phi Delt, SAE, and Phi Gam. Chi Phi in the past would have been with this group but will probably be giving easy bids this year because of their problems. Easier bids come from socially worse fraternities than these. And you have a chance at all of those listed above as long as you're cool enough.

For anything other than DKE/Beta/Phi Delt/Phi Gam/SAE, being a sophomore transfer who doesn't know anyone will not be an issue at all. Just don't suck and you'll get a bid from a middle tier house. And if it really comes down to it and you're dying to be Greek at all costs, there are some lower tier houses that hand out bids like Halloween candy.

For DKE/Beta/Phi Delt/Phi Gam/SAE (Chi Phi would usually be in that group, but who knows now), it helps a lot to know someone, and rush is pretty competitive. That said, a bid in your situation wouldn't be impossible by any means. Try to find some kind of common ground with the brothers. Good luck and hope you find the right place, wherever it may be.
