sophomore rush
by: pnmHow well do you need to know sorority members to have a chance at getting a bid as a sophomore? Do acquaintances help or do you really need to have best friends in the chapters

Knowing people is so important (hate to say it). If you don't know anyone in, say for example, adpi you probably won't get in. Also as a sophomore gpa is make or break. Girls with poor gpas get turned down for that reason. I rushed as a freshman and didn't know a soul--didn't get what I wanted. Didn't even rush soph. Year and my friends gave me an extra spot in the one I wanted. Tri delta makes a list before rush of who is already in...

I don't have an exact number, but my general idea is maybe 3.3 ish? because greeks pride themselves on maintaining a gpa at/above the all women's gpa at UNC, which is a 3.3...it could be a 3.0 minimum though. There is no upperclassmen quota (to my knowledge). My sorority had a fair number of sophomores, but I don't know anything about a set number of sophomores. All I know is many people will say rush is much easier as an upperclassman, probably because by that time you've met more greeks.

What is considered a safe gpa? Also how big is upperclassman quota? Like realistically, how many non-transfer, non-exhange student sophomores from unc actually get in to a sorority
