Snap bids 2024….

My suitemate got one to them and we only know because she dropped out before pref and then magically ended up with a bid. I don’t think anyone thinks less of her for it but it’s weird that some sororities have to do that.

I'd hope your PC wouldn't judge how you ended up there... or you're in the wrong place. You say there's judgement against snap bids but not COBs? That makes no sense.

If you're in the right chapter, no one will care how you got there. And by next semester, no one will even remember.

It makes perfect sense and everyone in a sorority gets it. The judgement is real so keeping a snap to yourself is best for everyone. If you're not in a sorority (obviously you're not) you have no frame of reference for what this means and there is no need to comment on what you think doesn't make sense.

from my personal experience, snap bids and COBs legit didn't matter after like 1 month in the sorority. Only a few people even realized who "wasn't there" on bid day, and even fewer cared.

girls within your PC should not care how you got there. end of story. if they do care, they are more concerned about their reputation than about having you included in their organization.

people outside your chapter may be judgmental, but they only care because they want to put your chapter down relative to theirs.

I totally understand the embarrassment/not wanting people to know. that's a personal choice. but if you do choose to share that you received a snap bid, NO ONE should be judgmental about that. anyone who understands the process understands that it's not perfect.

It's not the PC really, it goes MUCH worse for the chapter if it's known they snapped. Everyone is so quick to pounce on it to use it to tear them down. They had a bad rush, they're slipping, they're struggling, pnm's didn't want them, and all the rest. You've heard it all and probably said some of it too if you had the chance. Anyone in a sorority knows exactly what we're talking about here.

This is why new pnm's should understand that's what they are opening their chapter up to. Discretion is better, and there are some pnm's mothers who need to hear it too.

Nevermind the fact that sometimes a chapter's RFM numbers are off, causing them to cut too many and end up short at pref. That's a reason to have to snap bid, not their fault, didn't have a bad rush at all, but the other sororities would never give such grace to another chapter by acknowledging this possibility.

"Congratulations but keep your mouth shut" doesn't exactly make girls in this situation feel good about it. Encourages shame/embarrassment among members just to preserve the reputation of the chapter on this website. No one cares, get over it, it's not that deep! Congratulations to every PNM who received a bid today.

Since kd has to snap bid every year it definitely is their fault

All the proof needed is on the current posts about snap bids. Everyone can see how chapters are vilified for snap bids, whether true or lies. People can't wait to try to make a chapter look bad. Happens every year and doesn't ever go away. It will be brought up a year from now how XYZ had to snap bid.
