by: rushing

I’m rushing and don’t like any of the houses I have left in round 3 and don’t know what to do....how can I get a snap bid to one I did want??? Or should I wait and rush again in the spring/next fall!???

If you don’t like where you end up on pref, sign up for continuous open bidding (your Gx will help you)!

The odds of getting a bid after rush this year could be lower bc quota is low

There’s also fewer girls- Quota is based on how many girls are rushing total so I wouldn’t worry about there being less snap bids!

Me either :(( I’m so upset. I feel like things would’ve been so different in person

Things would not have been different in person. You can use that as an excuse but that’s all it is. Most houses have a once cut always cut rule.

No matter how good your convos were, people still get dropped easily. It's a numbers game, depends on connections, etc. Even if they like you, there could be others they invite back bc they like them more for whatever reason. It's awful and hurtful and makes you doubt yourself but it happens, people fall through the cracks. As someone who dropped out of rush freshman year and rushed again, I promise it is not any different virtually. It would have been exactly the same in person and that sucks bc I know you want something to blame but the criteria, process, and convos are the same. Honestly, virtual is easier imo because the conversations are a little longer and more genuine and not as overwhelming as they would be if you were there in person.

Ask your gamma chi about your options! I know mine explained it really well and it’s better to get it explained like first hand verbally.

Seriously you want to go begging a house that didn’t find you desirable for a COB? That’s going to make you feel better about yourself?! Join a club and have that be your social life

Snap bids are not usually too likely and you should not bet on that at all. Usually the lower tier sororities that you likely have left right now are the ones who give snap bids and occasionally a few mid or top tiers give a couple but they would give it to those who probably make it to at least round 3. There's nothing you can do to try to get a snap bid, it just happens sometimes. COB is also usually the lower tiers you probably have left (no hate to lower tiers at all by the way, it just sounds like that is what you have left and that you might not be interested). If there is a house you have left with even a possibility of you liking it, don't drop out. If you get a bid, you can feel it out and decide if you want to drop it later. There's no pressure since it is online (you don't have to fake a smile at in-person events). If you drop out, you can rush again, but usually sophomores end up with the same ones they got freshman year unless they make a ton of friends in a certain sorority. Even then, nothing is guaranteed. It's a lot to think about and I'm sorry you are in this situation. Cuts after round 2 are usually a big wake up call and it sucks.

KD always gives snap bids so there is hope you might get one from them
