What do you mean? As long as you're a cool guy you'll be fine during rush. "Big 4" is Phi Delt, Phi Gam, Beta, and DKE, but it doesn't really matter if you go those. SAE and Chi Phi are the next best fraternities after that and then its ATO, Kappa Sig, Sigma Chi, and Sigma Nu. Go for the fraternity you like the most man.

I'm just a bit older and don't know anyone there yet. Would that be a huge problem?

Nah, probably not. Some fraternities might find it weird that some brothers would maybe be a decent bit younger than you but I think you'd more than likely be fine. And, for the most part, I'm pretty we're all big backers of the military so that'd probably help your case hah

id say if youre looking to go greek look at any of the following fraternities. these tend to be the fraternities that the most people go to and you can definitely have a good time at any of them (not in any order):

Big 4(DKE, Beta, Phi Delt, Phi Gam)
Any of the big fraternity court houses(SAE, Sig Chi, PiKA, Sig Nu)
Chi Phi, ATO, Kappa Sig

You can definitely have a great time in any fraternity here, but from what I've experienced these houses attract the most people and have relatively active social calendars.

In my opinion, DKE, Sig Chi, and ATO throw the best parties. Chi Phi used to have good parties on occasion, but I really haven't been to anything special this year.
Of the above list, Phi Gam and Kappa Sig probably have the least amount of parties, but both are well-respected and have good brothers.

Just like the person below me said, there are plenty of good fraternities here and you'll more than likely have fun in all of them. The Big 4 is here to stay considering its a tradition thing and all but that doesn't mean they're going to be the guys you get along best with. My favorites are probably Beta, SAE, Phi Delt, and Phi Gam but I really like most fraternities.

For the most part, what do non-greek students think of the frats here?

For the most part, they don't really seem to dislike or like us. Either way, they should love us considering most parties on campus are thrown by fraternities and, whether or not they're supposed to get in, they usually get a lot of free alcohol from us. I couldn't care less if you're not in a fraternity/sorority as long as you're cool but who knows how they feel.
