sig ep leading the way

by:

In August 2017, SigEp’s undergraduate legislative body took another historic step for our Fraternity. The Grand Chapter voted on and passed a resolution to effectively ban alcohol and other illicit substances from all SigEp chapter homes by 2020.

These are the kind role models we need in our greek community.

Ninety percent of college takes place outside of the classroom. It’s in this part of the college experience — the unplanned, unstructured hours — that students discover their passions and plan their futures. For our brothers, much of this time is spent with their chapters — it’s where they build close bonds of friendship and learn how to communicate and work with others, to lead, and to speak in front of a crowd. Our brothers accomplish all of this through the Balanced Man Program (BMP).

The Balanced Man Program is the centerpiece of the SigEp chapter experience and provides the experience that today’s student needs to be successful during and after college. The Balanced Man Program is a non-pledging, non-hazing, four-year, personal, academic, leadership and professional skills development experience. Here is how the Balanced Man Program accomplishes those ideals:

The program is founded on five philosophical tenets:

Equal rights and responsibilities - Full membership upon joining
Continuous development - Growing throughout life
Accountability - Committing to SigEp’s high standards
Living the Ritual - Incorporating SigEp’s values into everyday life
Mentoring - Maximizing growth through guidance and support

Some alumni are just salty that other alumni donated the house to Nationals after the Kania killings and Nationals will probably sell the house

If indeed Nationals now owns the house, then get ready for SigCastrati

Imagine how miserable the Sig Ep nationals employee is that’s getting paid 30k a year to travel to fraternities they ruined and unironically post on GreekRank.

Q. Will SigEp allow members to resign and join other organizations if they want to leave as a result of this legislation?

A. Yes. The National Fraternity will release the membership of any member(s) who feels that a substance-free chapter facility policy is inconsistent with his values or what he desires from his undergraduate experience.

Sig Ep has some real problems with their national office. Rather than help their oldest and most successful chapters, they've adopted rules that will shut them down.

As a former brother of this chapter I can say that Nationals is crazy think going totally dry in Chapel Hill is possible and viable or even the right thing to do. It's not, it's going to destroy our fraternity and the house will likely be rented out to another org or sold to the school.

Why would they get kicked off for just having beer at a tailgate when they survived the whole brother Kania killing people thing?

Because sigep nationally is now fully substance-free, and unlike other substance free nationals (Phi Delt, Beta), sigep’s actually enforce the no alcohol policy. Either the chapter would have gone completely substance free, or they would get their charter revoked and they chose the latter option and dropped

Because during Kania, the Great President of SigEp Nationals had a son who was a brother at the UNC chapter. Hammer came down only after he graduated.

The house is probably already "for sale"
