tri sigma

by: wondering

so tri sigma got like 15 members and I am curious what that means for them on campus? I overheard people saying they may be kicked off campus for not having enough girls, is this true? I think that would be so sad and unnecessary.

Where are you getting your "information"? I seriously doubt that's true, and you are a catty person for even floating this out there.

I was worried about this happening when Alpha Phi joined. UNC can't support 11 sororities. 10 is really the max.

There were 11 sororities before, and UNC couldn't support it. Phi Mu closed in 2002 and DZ closed in 2003.

When Phi Mu came back a few years later, the 9 sororities survived. That's not going to be the case with 11.

I really wish Alpha Phi never came to campus. No fair to Sigma who's been here since the 1990s.

I do not want to promote cattiness in any way, but the only picture I found on instagram of their pledge class had 15 girls shown. Not saying for sure that is the total number of girls in the pledge class, but it is the only photo I saw. I don't really think it matters though, or should matter to anyone who isn't a sigma. They are really cute girls and they have a great sisterhood- I doubt that even if their numbers are that low, they'd be removed from campus.

There's a pic of their pledge class with like 15 girls. It isn't catty for someone to ask...

Um, yes it is. It's an underhanded way to smear them.

Are these Instagram posts the official 'pledge-class-in-front-of-the-house' pictures? If not, it might be a small group and not everyone. It's almost like you want them to fail.

What on Earth is wrong with you for concerning yourself with this?! Allow this group of girls to exist and have fun with whatever numbers they do or don't have. I feel that this type of questioning is precisely the type of commentary and discussion that makes other non-Greek students feel negatively about the whole community. Keep your thoughts to your ridiculous and obviously gossipy self.

Year every year they say this, and every year they do worse. They'll be gone soon

You know what happens if they leave? That moves your lame house closer to the bottom (if you even are Greek). Don't forget that.

this isn't catty, it is a genuine question. They got 15 girls, based on the only pictures I have seen, and that is unheard of. Yes every year people say they're getting quicked off campus, because every year they do worse and worse. I wouldn't be surprised if they do. It isn't mean to point out the reality of the situation.

It's not "unheard of." My aunt was at UNC in the early 2000s. She told me that the year Phi Mu closed, they only got 4 girls, and the year DZ closed, they only got 7.

15 is an ok place to start. Signs can make up the numbers by COB and spring rush. They're going to be fine.

Tri sigma always does an amazing job with getting COBs, as someone else pointed out. Their sisterhood is great and they have a lot of genuine girls who join year-round. They also generally have a very successful spring rush. I'm rooting for them to succeed-- they have a great sisterhood

We should all be rooting for them to succeed. Why wouldn't we?

It seems like some people here love to root for houses to fail. It sucks and it's just not cool.
