advice for today
by: Recent Grad
I just graduated last year & wanted to provide you with some advice as a former PNM, sister, & Gamma Chi.
1. Trust the process. Trust the process. Trust the process. If you do, you will end up in the eighth house for you.
2. It's ok to cry....just not in front of the active sisters. If you are shocked by how many or few houses you are invited back to (I was only invited back to 4 out of 10 after the first round), cry. Yell. Pout. Whatever. Get it out of your system & have a good time at the houses who invited you back. They see something in you. Be proud of that. Enjoy it.
3. Be genuine in your conversations.
4. Smile...genuinely.
5. Be gracious
6. DO NOT CUT YOUR LEGACY HOUSES. Super important. Most sororities, if not all, must put their legacies on first bid list if they are invited back to pref round.
7. Wear what fits you, compliments your body type, and you feel confident wearing.
8. Back to trusting the process. When I was a Gamma Chi, my partner and I had a pretty good idea of where each PNM would end up. We were fairly right for the most part, especially with one girl. She was rather unique & we were worried she would get cut from every house after first round...until we got to one "middle tier" house. We both looked at each other like, "this is her home." Sure enough, that was the only sorority that kept her after round one, and she didn't drop out. Instead, she chose to trust the process & carry that one house with her throughout the rest of rush. She received a bid & never looked back. She was so happy & it was a perfect match.
9. Have fun!
