rush
by: Out of stateI know very few kids from out of state come to UNC so is it going to be impossible to get into one of the better sororities? I am sure I will like girls in all groups, but I just want to go in knowing if I am going to dropped from most houses immediately since I don't have any connections?

UNC's recruitment is much less based on "connections" and "who you know" than the recruitments at other schools like Alabama/ Ole Miss/ etc. Some houses tend to take mainly instate girls while others have a lot of out of state girls, but I highly doubt any house will cut you just because you don't know any actives.
All houses at UNC, regardless of supposed tier or what people have said on this site, have something to offer. I highly encourage you to go into recruitment with an open mind and thinking about what really matters to you/ what you want out of a sorority, rather than just trying to get into a "better" house. Also please please PLEASE stay off of this site between now and recruitment so that you can develop your own thoughts about all of our campus's wonderful houses and find the house that is truly the right one for you!

While the school and students say that rush is different here than other southern schools I would be cautious believing that. Rush is intense and I don't know many OOS students who ended up in their first choices without knowing someone. The advice of staying off this site and keeping an open mind is 100% true! Also, consider waiting to rush. I wish I did.
