rushing a sorority in the fall as a sophomore
by: transfertobestschooleverI'm a transfer student currently a freshman at a private school, but I'm going to transfer to UNC.I really want to be in a sorority so I am planning on rushing, but Im nervous because Im a sophomore. I dont know any upperclassmen in any house, none of my family members were in sororities, and i dont even know what a letter of rec is. I would be heartbroken to not rush, but I want to get into a middle or upper tier sorority and i picked my college this year just to wait a year to transfer to unc. do i have any chances of getting into a good house? any advice please

Go into rush with an open mind. I wouldn't set your sights on any particular house or even tiers. Tiers do not matter. Houses can only take a certain number of sophomores and in my experience, they mostly take the people they know. I had a similar experience and did not find my home, but UNC is amazing in that there are so many amazing organizations here!

Absolutely agree! I wholeheartedly believe that anyone could find a niche in any of the houses here. Every single house will have girls you'd want to be friends with and some that you maybe wouldn't want to as much. This is true no matter what tier. Keep in mind UNC is large, but Greek life is way less intense than other schools... your house will be one thing about you but not your whole identity.
